End of Another Year

Image
Well by the end of 2018 I'd managed quite a few finishes on the stitching front. The kids had done some amazing things and although the year started off badly when my father-in-law got rushed into hospital by the end we were looking up again. Although, I do hope for some much needed quiet times in 2019! Firstly here's a round up of my big finishes. There were a few smaller ones but I cannot find the photos (probably on my old phone!)  As you can tell I'm a fan of Heaven and Earth Designs, hoping to have another finish in 2019 :-) Then we have the kids, Lumps finally got to black belt in Taekwondo in September. All three of them completed their Get Active Challenge in the Summer.  We all had fabulous times at the coast this year, from the British Taekwondo training camp in Great Yarmouth in May to visiting Edinburgh in August during the Fringe and then down to Broadstairs in October to spend half term with my mother-in-law.  Peter has moved into his las...

CASTLES IN THE AIR

Image
On Friday 1st July 2011 I started a design called Castles in the Air by Papillion Creations, we're now in 2018 and I've finally finished...whew!  As much as I have loved this project I am so glad to finally put the last stitches in and cross it off my UFO pile. I've taken lots of photos of it all done, the beads haven't come up as clearly as they should but the great British weather being it's usual contrary self means today we have dull grey skies and rain, would you believe this time last week we were in a heatwave!! Anyway here is my version of Castles in the Air, now I've just got to save up to have it professionally framed and it's going to hang somewhere very prominent in the house.

2017 Comes to a Close

Image
It doesn't seem two minutes since it was the end of 2016 and I was looking at what I'd been stitching all year. Now as 2017 comes to a close I've discovered that I've not stitched most of the projects I'd hoped to start but I have had some good finishes.   I've got my next HAED all kitted up and ready to go come 1st January, this one is called Autumns Promise.  Then I'm working on the Peace in my Heart SAL, slow going as I wanted to finish DD's penguins. It's a joy to stitch on using fabric from Sparklies, hopefully over the Christmas break I can work on it a bit. From all of us here in Yorkshire have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. To all my fellow stitchers may you enjoy your stitching and may the frog stay away.

Stitch Faster the Kids are Coming!!

Image
Can you believe we're nearly at the end of the school year already?  Doesn't seem that long ago that Peter moved to Y8 (2nd year seniors for some of us!), Lukie went into Y6 and Darcy into Y4. It's been a very eventful school year, some good and some not so good but the kids enjoy school so they're happy. On the stitching front I've not done too bad. Finished a couple of pages on my HAED's , kitted up one more and half kitted up a second.  Worked hard on my CITA, getting close to finishing it now.  I had caught up on my Seasons SAL but then have fallen behind again as I secretly stitched Lukie a mini as he's mad on them.  Here are the photos... Seasons SAL by Bee's Needleworks Stitched on 28ct Strength by Heaven and Earth Designs Stitched on 25ct 1x1 Courage by Heaven and Earth Designs Stitched on 25ct 1x1 This is how my CITA looked after I finally finished another part. So close to finishing it now, I've started on t...

Finishes

Image
I've actually finished a couple of parts of my Papillon Creations SAL at long last...yay! Also a page on my HAED, I know don't faint LOL! Part 13 on my Castles in the Air was finally finished. The only reason this part has taken me so long is that I kept getting sidetracked by other projects.  Loving how this is coming together now. Castles in the Air Papillion Creations Part 13 was finally finished on my Around the World in 80 Stitches, must admit I haven't enjoyed this part as much as the others. The Pistil Stitch gave me some trouble, I've done this stitch loads of times on cotton fabric as freestyle embroidery but this is the first time I've done it on evenweave and didn't enjoy it at all. Around the World in 80 Stitches by Papillon Creations Finished page 4 of my HAED at long last, the last column has gone quite quickly as it wasn't confetti heavy. Only 2 more pages and I'll have finished the first row :-) Cruising the Informati...

June is Here

Image
Well June is here and let us all hope that the weather improves. Here in Yorkshire we didn't do that bad in May, had a couple of hot weekends that for once covered the bank holidays...yay!  Inbetween though plenty of rain and very cold weather, apparently we've had the coldest spring in years....as though we all didn't know that LOL! I have been stitching though, regular visitors will have seen the update on my ATW a couple of weeks ago. As we're now waiting for the next part I've been working on my CITA, here's how she stands at the minute.. My HAED "Cruising the Information Highway" by Randall Spangler looks like this after May's stitching.. As I seem to be working on quite large projects now I need a "finish" to give me a boost. Years ago when I went to the Harrogate stitching show with the Yahoo Group Friendly Stitchers (link in sidebar) I picked up some wonderful thread by Oliver Twists with the intention of doing a black...

We Had Sun!

Image
Yes don't faint but we've actually had some sun here in Yorkshire!  Last weekend the weather was absolutely glorious so we finally unearthed the kids bikes from the shed and took them out riding. Here's my 3 enjoying the weather.... Put the stabilisers back onto Lukie's bike as it has been a year since it's been out. Darcy had to have a new bike as we discovered she's grown a lot since last year and her bike was miles too small. This is her new one, pink and white as ordered!! But I have done some stitching in between all the usual taxi-ing around of the children and here's where I'm at on my main projects... Castles in the Air by Papillon Creations. Part 11 all finished on the left hand side and part 12 printed out ready. Around the World in 80 Stitches by Papillon Creations Parts 1-11 Cruising the Information Highway by HAED Showing April's progress. Not as much as I'd like but you can see my little dragon starting...

Castles in the Air

Image
Whilst waiting for the latest part of Around the World to be released I've been making more of an effort on my CITA , managed to finish parts 8 & 9.  Here's what it's up to... Part 8 Now I hadn't put any beads on until this point so picked these colours out of my stash.  Part 9 How she's looking altogether. And if you want to join in with the latest SAL just click on CITA at the top and it will take you to Papillions website.

Where's Spring???

Image
Lately my stitching mojo has been on a little break, I put it down to the weather. One minute it's cold with snow and the next spring is coming, then snow again :-(  Some nights I'm so tired and cold that the thought of picking up a needle doesn't enter my mind. Mind you I have managed some stitching inbetween the kids activities....here's where I'm at:     Around the World in 80 Stitches - speciality version Papillion Creations  Confetti of Hardanger Bee's Needleworks Fabric "Aries" by Sparklies   Castles in the Air by Papillion Creations  Cruising the Information Highway Heaven & Earth Designs Mary Wigham SAL Other big news at our house is to do with my 3 children... Peter Boo (8)  Lukie (6) Darcy (5) In March Lukie passed his dance exam which was the Waltz, no pictures of his presentation yet as it's in April. He's now learning the Jive for his exam in September. His piano teacher says he...
