End of Another Year

Image
Well by the end of 2018 I'd managed quite a few finishes on the stitching front. The kids had done some amazing things and although the year started off badly when my father-in-law got rushed into hospital by the end we were looking up again. Although, I do hope for some much needed quiet times in 2019! Firstly here's a round up of my big finishes. There were a few smaller ones but I cannot find the photos (probably on my old phone!)  As you can tell I'm a fan of Heaven and Earth Designs, hoping to have another finish in 2019 :-) Then we have the kids, Lumps finally got to black belt in Taekwondo in September. All three of them completed their Get Active Challenge in the Summer.  We all had fabulous times at the coast this year, from the British Taekwondo training camp in Great Yarmouth in May to visiting Edinburgh in August during the Fringe and then down to Broadstairs in October to spend half term with my mother-in-law.  Peter has moved into his las...

Spring is Here at Last

Image
After what feels like a very long wet winter spring is finally here in Yorkshire. We've had over a week of wonderful weather, it went from being really cold to 16c overnight.  Having lots of sun has meant that the stitching has been a bit hit and miss while we all run outside to enjoy it quick incase it disappears again.  I have done some stitching though..... my Mr Darcy John Clayton Elegance design named Charles stitched on 28ct cream I've also taken part in an exchange with my yahoo group Friendly Stitchers. We had to make something stitchy or friendship related for our partner, here's what my partner Elaine stitched for me, it hangs from my Lowery frame. I can't show what I stitched for her as I forgot to take a photo before I posted it..oops! Not done much on my HAED as I only picked it up again in the middle of March but here's what it looks like by Sunday 23rd when I'd been working on it for a week... Cruising The Information Highway by Ran...

Let's Go...

Image
At the beginning of 2014 I still have quite a few WIPs rolled over from the 2013 challenge. My main aim this year is to finish my Castles in the Air, keep up with Around the World in 80 Stitches and work hard on Cruising the Information Highway. So where am I at the end of January with them?  Not much further on realistically *sigh*   We've had a busy month with the kids returning to school and all their clubs starting up again. DS2 went into the Childrens Hospital for dental surgery and DS1 working hard in Taekwondo ready for his grading in February and a competition. I have finished the first row of my HAED "Cruising the Information Highway" Cruising The Information Highway by Randal Spangler Stitched on 25ct 1 over 1 I did finish my Positive Thinking SAL Positive Thinking http://lesmarottesdenath.free.fr/ I also started another project, it's called "Charles" by John Clayton but to me he's "Mr Darcy" stitched on 28ct evenwe...

A Dark Side Finish

Image
I've finally had a finish...yay!  I try and make something for DH every year and for Father's Day I made him a small design based on Darth Vader from Star Wars. The men in our house are BIG Star Wars fans and the boys call their dad Vader so thought this was apt. Darth Vader by Osmosis Must admit in June I didn't do that much work on my HAED, in fact not a lot of stitching some weeks. But here's where I'm at with my HAED... Heaven and Earth Designs Cruising the Information Highway by Randal Spangler And here's my Blackwork Butterfly, finally did the outline for the second wing and started filling in.... Blackwork Butterfly by Mary Hickmott I have got a new chart, this one I couldn't resist. Anyone who knows me will know that I adore Jane Austen and my all time favourite is Pride & Prejudice. Brooke's Books has a new design that I just couldn't resist. It's called "The Darcy's"  I may save i...

CHATSWORTH HOUSE

Image
At the end of April it was my birthday, DH was working and the kids in school so we didn't do anything special. On Tuesday as both boys were in school DH decided we should do something special so we went off to Chatsworth House which is in Derbyshire (about 30 minutes from where we live) If you'd like to visit the official Chatsworth website just hit the post title and it'll take you there. Jane Austen fans will know about the house. Jane visited the house in 1811 and used the house as the basis for Mr Darcy's home Pemberley in my favourite novel Pride & Prejudice. It's a beautiful house and the gardens are magnificent. DH of course took his camera so we got some lovely shots, although not as many as we would have done due to our DD Darcy getting bored and wanting to see the "duckies". Chatsworth House from the East When we arrived we had a walk around the grounds so Darcy could stretch her legs and see the sheep which were free roaming the surround...

Return To The Sea

Image
Last night I finally finished my Return To The Sea sampler. It's all backed in a co-ordinating fabric and has a little hook sewn into the top so it can hang in our bedroom. I really enjoyed sewing this and have 2 more of Tanya's charts on the literary theme. Now I'm catching up on my Christmas SAL, I want to make the Karate Dog by Margaret Sherry in this months Cross Stitcher magazine for our eldest Peter, grid my monopoly project and that's not counting my Darcy photostitch. DH is off work next week so hopefully I can manage to get an hour during each day to stitch without any children. Back to my needle I go.......

November Already

Image
Can you believe we're in November already? Doesn't seem that long ago since DH and I took our eldest Peter for his first day at full time school. The weather has definitely changed, lots of rain in the past couple of weeks and the cold spell is now here. Here's my November calendar piece and the verse just sums up the weather here in Yorkshire. To cheer us up here's a little November Flower Fairy And last but definitely not least here's my progress on my latest project. Return to the Sea by The Sampler Girl. I've only the quote at the top to sew then I can finish it off. I'm thinking hand stitch the sides with co-ordinating thread, back it and make it into a wall hanging.

Jane Austin Finish

Image
After finally finishing my Oriental Longevity square I decided to stitch something for me. Literary Little #1 Mr Darcy by The Sampler Girl. DH laughed when he read it...said it was true, CHEEK!! LOL Stitched on 32ct Antique linen that I found in the bottom of my stash box then framed myself today after finding just the right frame, it will sit in our bedroom on the new dressing table when its here (very soon now..yippee as our wardrobe is falling to bits more each day). Unfortunately my camera and the lighting in our lounge hasn't helped the photograph, it looks wrinkled in the frame, its not, David Bailey I'm not!!
