Summer Holidays are Here

Image
The kids have finally broken up from school for the summer which means I get some much needed rest, never thought when we had our first how busy you can get as they get older!!  I have been stitching inbetween my taxi duties but not as much as I needed to but here's some of what I've been working on... December's Holly Cottage Garden Samplings - My Garden Journal Stitched on Snowy Skies by Sparklies Game of Thrones - Night Watch Stitched on Winter Skies by Sparklies I've also been working on my TAST 2015 project (in a different post) but most of my stitching time is being taken up by DH's HAED, trying hard to finish page 16 before September. We went off down to Kent earlier in the year to see DH's family, Lukie decided to be his dads mini-me during the week.... at the end of term Lukie took part in a concert for the school musicians, here he is playing a duet with his piano tutor Francis. I can't believe my last post was in January, where is this year going?  The weather seems to have finally taken a turn for the better, outside the sun is shining and yesterdays gale force winds with heavy rain seem to have disappeared. Mind you one good thing about bad weather is I get lots more stitching and reading time...yay! Since the New Year I've plodded away at my HAED  and last night finished page 14.  DD is getting quite excited now as she can't wait for me to start her ballerina project. Summer Fun is Over

Image
Well the kids school holidays are done as well as the sun disappeared halfway through them :-(  We did get quite a bit of stuff done in the 6 weeks, though not all of it fun for the kids. New windows for the house, DH and I used quite a bit of his week off to do jobs around the house and garden much to the kids disgust but we'd been putting them off since winter.  We did go out and about so there are a few photos and I even managed to get some stitching done which resulted in a couple of finishes..yay! Photos first... Peter spent a week in summer school at Westfield School (where fingers crossed he'll go to seniors in a years time). At the end of the week they had a day trip to Cleethorpes and I took the 2 youngest with us. Apparently it rained in Sheffield but it was hot at the coast and we had a great day on the beach... Later in August Tony had a week off and we all went to Cleethorpes together... Peter couldn't resist doing a bit of Taekwondo at the coast ...

Finding Time

Image
Have you ever had one of those months where you remember it starting but before you know it you're at the end? That's what happened to me in April, I did a lot of different things but the month itself flew by without me realising.  I did manage to get photos of some of the activities along the way so we're a photo heavy post this time. The top photo is the kids at the top of Mam Tor in the Peak District. Darcy wasn't happy about climbing so high but she loved the view from the top. Below they're in the Longshaw Estate which is looked after by the National Trust. We had a wonderful day being out in the fresh air. On bank holiday Monday we went to Woodhouse Wentworth where they were holding a classic car show. Luke adored seeing all the mini's as they're his favourite cars. Darcy couldn't resist having her hand decorated, it lasted longer than the week and I had to really scrub it off before she returned to school! What holiday is complete w...

Spring is Here at Last

Image
After what feels like a very long wet winter spring is finally here in Yorkshire. We've had over a week of wonderful weather, it went from being really cold to 16c overnight.  Having lots of sun has meant that the stitching has been a bit hit and miss while we all run outside to enjoy it quick incase it disappears again.  I have done some stitching though..... my Mr Darcy John Clayton Elegance design named Charles stitched on 28ct cream I've also taken part in an exchange with my yahoo group Friendly Stitchers. We had to make something stitchy or friendship related for our partner, here's what my partner Elaine stitched for me, it hangs from my Lowery frame. I can't show what I stitched for her as I forgot to take a photo before I posted it..oops! Not done much on my HAED as I only picked it up again in the middle of March but here's what it looks like by Sunday 23rd when I'd been working on it for a week...
