TAST 2015 - Take A Stitch Tuesday

The Take a Stitch Tuesday (otherwise known as TAST) has started again (yay!) if you want to join in hop over to Sharon's site where you'll find all the details.

Week 1 was Fly Stitch and week 2 was Buttonhole Stitch. I've decided to do a bit of a band sampler with the stitches on some fabric from my stash so I can see how they work up and it'll be my version of a stitch dictionary.


Then I brought out one of my quilt blocks that I've made using some of my daughters old baby clothes, I'm eventually going to put these blocks together to make a memory quilt for our bed as it'll all be made of bits of the kids clothing.


After I'd stitched 2 of the button hole wheels I realised they looked like a dolls pram that my daughter had for her baby annabel, the frame is fly stitch and I appliqued a bit of her white fabric to make the hood.


Snowflake fly stitch as this dark fabric was from one of her winter outfits when she was 10mths old. Then I did buttonhole stitch along the edge of gingham fabric from one of her nursery dresses.

    Those are gorgeous! I'd like to do something with DD's baby clothes, but I haven't gotten farther than separating them from the donation stuff.

    Love the idea of the memory quilt. Your stitching is wonderful. I'm joining in with TAST but I haven't started yet. I'm just soaking up all the inspiration

Never Give Up Hope

Here is my Hope project all finished after staying up late to stitch on the last beads. Showed it to my daughter Darcy this morning and she said "Darcy's" so even at 23mths old she knows what she wants!  For anyone who hasn't seen the sister design Believe that I completed in November the designs are out of a book called "Bewitching Cross Stitch" by Joan Elliott. It's stitched on 28ct Sparkling Fairy Tale by Sparklies  using normal DMC stranded cottons and Mill Hill Beads. I'm so pleased with how it's turned out :-) I've also finally completed a Christmas ornament for my children. This is a snowman stitched on plastic canvas, bought it ages ago but only just finished it off.  Also managed to complete a couple of small items for the kids and a silver snowman. Not quite sure what to do with the snowman though, card, frame or ornament? This week I'm going to try and catch up on my SALs. I've only part 12 and Darcy's initial

Lots of new things to do

Last month I made myself a little box using some of our sons old clothes, it's a handy little thing for the side of my bed and I get to remember how small the boys were when I see what they wore. This is mine....  Obviously when DD saw it she wanted one but in pink and purple. On Friday when she got home from school we sat and got the fabrics ready along with buttons and threads. All the centre pieces are from clothing she wore as a baby up until about 18mths old, the outside is some purple fabric I had left from my flower project and the buttons are from an old jacket.  Saturday after lunch DD and I sat down with the sewing machine and put her 'box' together...lets just say having a 4yr old help doesn't make for an easy or quick job!!  But she's pleased with her box and says that she'll keep her hair clips and bobbles in it.
