Lots of new things to do

Last month I made myself a little box using some of our sons old clothes, it's a handy little thing for the side of my bed and I get to remember how small the boys were when I see what they wore. This is mine....

Obviously when DD saw it she wanted one but in pink and purple. On Friday when she got home from school we sat and got the fabrics ready along with buttons and threads. All the centre pieces are from clothing she wore as a baby up until about 18mths old, the outside is some purple fabric I had left from my flower project and the buttons are from an old jacket.  Saturday after lunch DD and I sat down with the sewing machine and put her 'box' together...lets just say having a 4yr old help doesn't make for an easy or quick job!!  But she's pleased with her box and says that she'll keep her hair clips and bobbles in it. Here's DD with her box....

The latest issue of Stitch magazine had a flower in it that I took a fancy to straight away. Although in the magazine it's stitched on white and in shades of purple/green I decided to do something a bit different and stitch it on purple with white stitches...here's my flower so far...
I haven't decided whether to do the centre part in white or in a pale purple as all the petals will be filled with different stitches in white. What do you think?

I've also been working on my French Postcard SAL and have finally finished another month - October.

Finally here's DS2's Tango all completed...hopefully the next time you see this will be when he's at his medal presentation for his Tango :-)

Here's Noah's Ark....it's not going as fast as I want as I'm constantly changing colours but page 2 seems to be going quicker thank heaven!

  1. All your stitching is lovely, Jo! And your DD is such a sweetie! What a great helper she makes! lol. Your purple flower looks wonderful! I can't wait to see what stitches you decide to use. But have you thought of using yellow in the center? Maybe a couple different shaes? I'm not sure what your vision is but thought I would throw that out there! I think it would look striking! Thanks for sharing all your stitching!

  3. Really like your French Postcard SAL, very unique, at least from a US standpoint. How nice that your little girl is interested in helping you craft. Mine says she is but loses interest very quickly.

  7. Nice projects. My first thought on your flower was a yellow center.

  8. DD looks so happy. It amazes me how the simple things can just make their whole world brighten. If I let my 3yr old do a few stitches (just pull the needle through) she acts like I gave her the world. I think a purple center, just a tad darker then the fabric would look lovely.

  15. Hi

    Just found your blog.

I love the little boxes you made. Such a lovely idea to use some of your children's outgrown clothes.

The one you did for your daughter (she is so pretty!) is lovely.

    Your French RR is great.

I would stick with white and use different stitches.

  16. Wow, Jo, lots of pics in this blog. I love the box you made for yourself, and for your DD. (She's adorable, btw. Too cute!!) And I would try out some stitches of the color you want and see how it looks. I think I would like a purple center though. It would be pretty. Noah's Ark is coming along (and hey, progress is progress, even if it IS slow) and grats on the finish for Tango. will you frame it yourself?
